As a Director of UX, I led the end-to-end experience strategy and design for Citi Pay’s integration with ChargeAfter, a multi-lender financing platform that powers merchant checkout experiences.

This initiative extends Citi’s lending capabilities into new merchant ecosystems by embedding Citi Pay financing directly within partner checkout flows—allowing customers to discover, apply for, and accept credit or installment offers in real time without leaving the retailer experience.

The work focused on harmonizing ChargeAfter’s platform UX with Citi’s established design language, ensuring brand trust, compliance alignment, and a seamless customer experience across both systems.

• Key Achievements:
  • Defined and delivered the first Citi Pay MVP within the ChargeAfter merchant integration ecosystem—introducing unified UI patterns, real-time decision logic, and adaptive offer experiences.
  • Reduced customer drop-off by resolving trust and handoff friction between merchant, ChargeAfter, and Citi experiences through contextual design and co-branded presentation patterns.
  • Implemented a mobile-first modal flow that maintained merchant context while introducing Citi branding and product education moments.
  • Introduced Save & Resume functionality and early OTP verification, improving user completion rates and security confidence.
